Thomas Hall and Mark Parry have previously worked together on dance for camera and other video projects. Topshot is the first interactive installation on which they have collaborated. Both Hall and Parry combined their complementary skills and individual artistic vision to create this engaging work, the process of which has taken over two years to complete.
Thomas’s individual work plays with notions of the viewer’s active engagement, participation and subsequent ownership of artistic experience. He comes from a creative technical background, working with technologies such as motion tracking and proximity sensoring. The aesthetic he places on his work juxtaposes the natural with algorithmically based or artificial patterning.
Mark’s work uses light, moving image and photography both individually and in combination and in a range of contexts – dance, theatre, short film, television and installation. The aim is always for the work to be evocative and emotive.
