Taciturn is a North West based professional dance company of four female dancers: Jenny Rees, Jennifer Hale, Jenna Jungbluth and Michelle Brady. The company is based in Liverpool and has been established since 2006, creating and performing work as well as teaching in community and educational settings.
Since setting up, the company has:
- Created its own work, Hang up your coat and stay a while
- Commissioned established choreographer Tom Roden (New Art Club) to create If it can be broken, it can be fixed
- Worked in partnership with Merseyside Dance Initiative, The Liverpool Biennial, and Liverpool City Council
- Performed in various festivals and platforms including: Merseyside Dance Initiative’s Leap festival and Capital Nights festival; British Dance Edition 2008 Fringe as part of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year; Cloud Dance Festival, Jackson’s Lane Theatre (London); Turn Choreographic Platform, The Greenroom Manchester; and Tilt Choreographic Platform, Liverpool.
Presently the Company is working with North West based choreographer Lisi Perry on a new piece to be premiered at Liverpool’s annual Leap festival in March 2010. Leap 2010 will provide Taciturn with a springboard for further performance opportunities and, by adding a third piece to its repertoire, will enable the company to hold an evening of its own work and develop a regional tour.
