BDE branding gets a makeover!

14th October 2009

Earlier this year, the BDE team at DanceXchange started to develop a brand for the 2010 showcase. Initially, several design agencies were approached for their ideas, and Birmingham-based Tak! Design were chosen for their strong visual concept using light paintings as the basis of the their idea.

Working with photographer Chris Keenan and DanceXchange’s very own Bare Bones dancers Celine Alwyn and Joseph Perou, we set up a day’s photo shoot in our studio theatre, The Patrick Centre, to capture the images that would inform the logo design. Watch The Making Of… video below to see how the shoot went and hear from the people involved.

Once we finished the shoot, the best images were chosen and the creative people at Tak! went off to work them into a series of suggested logo designs. After much deliberation, the final version you see on this site was approved, which we hope you like as much as we do!

Check out performances by Eddie Ladd and Tanja Raman , who’ve also used this light painting concept in the development of their work.
