As one of the world’s leading ballet schools, Elmhurst prides itself on providing excellent ballet training, supported by sound academic education and all in a secure and happy environment.
Under the artistic leadership of Desmond Kelly, former Assistant Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, the artistic faculty comprises world-class teachers, all former professional dancers and expert teachers from renowned companies and vocational schools worldwide. This depth of experience and expertise ensure the students develop a sound technique and an extensive repertoire.
In addition students benefit from numerous guest teachers of international repute, and from working with choreographers of international standing, in the studio and in rehearsal for the school’s large-scale productions. Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Director, David Bintley, is the school’s Artistic Advisor, visiting regularly, working with students and staging his ballets for them.
Through regular performances in Elmhurst’s own theatre and on professional stages around the UK, in Birmingham, London and abroad, students gain great experience of professional performance.
